What is a Trunk Show?
A trunk show is an opportunity for local bridal salons to introduce brides-to-be to designer gowns they otherwise might not carry in store. Usually only a few days long and by appointment only, trunk shows offer brides a chance to order straight-off-the-runway styles that the bridal salon will then make sure are properly tailored and promptly delivered for the big day. All appointments booked on these special weekends require a non-refundable payment of $40 per appointment. Enjoy 10% off your gown during the show on the featured designer. Should you arrive without an appointment and one is available the $40 fee applies.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we show all of our gowns by appointment (bridal, bridesmaids, mother of the occasion, flower girl, party dresses and tuxedos). This is necessary to ensure that a fitting room and a stylist will be available. Call (405) 752-0029 or make your appointment online at www.idoappointments.com. What are the price ranges of your gowns?
J. J. Kelly is Oklahoma’s only bridal salon that carries exclusive designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Lazaro, Stephanie Allin, Claire Pettibone, Reem Acra, Hayley Paige and many more. All of our gowns are about the Fabric, Fit and Fashion, which puts these designers above and beyond the rest. Our wedding gowns range in price from approximately $1,000 to $10,000. Our informal wedding gowns range in price from $500 to approximately $3,000. The best selection is going to be between $2,500 and $3,500.
Veils and headpieces: $150 and up
Bridesmaids: $135 to $400
Mothers gowns: $350 and up
May I bring all my friends with me to try on the gown?
Trying on wedding gowns can be intimidating, especially if you have opinionated guests. Very often we find that friends focus on what they like rather than what the bride likes, and often disregard the bride's budget. During your initial visit, we suggest that you bring immediate family members or a close friend. A professional stylist will help you select styles that look great on your figure, and that fits your sense of style and price range. After you have selected and purchased your gown, then invite your friends to view your choice. If you would like to bring more than 2 or 3 guests please consider a Blue Carpet Appointment.
How long does it take to order a wedding gown?
Special order designer gowns take approximately 4 to 5 months to arrive in our salon. We strongly recommend our brides to have their gowns 3 months prior to their wedding date. This will ensure that there is enough time for custom fittings and bridal portraits. Therefore, your wedding gown should be purchased 7 to 12 months prior to your wedding.
What if I need a gown in less than 4 months?
Most designers will make a gown quickly. However, they will charge a rush fee. We also have gowns from our wedding collection that can be purchased immediately.
My friends say I should try on everything, is that a good idea?
From our experience with working with brides for over 30 years, finding the gown of your dreams is an unparalleled experience. So when you start your search it is okay to try on different styles, but you should have a realistic idea of your price range and you should not try on gowns that do not represent who you are. This will ensure that when you purchase your wedding dress you will be thrilled with your choice.
What if I like a gown by one of the designers that your salon carries but you do not have it in your wedding gown collection?
Many of our designers will let us borrow a gown that we may not carry in our salon or one that may have been sold from our wedding collection. However, there is a charge for this service. Please call for details, (405) 752-0029.
Do you provide alterations?
Yes, we have in-house seamstresses. However, there is an additional charge that is determined by the seamstress at the time of your custom fitting. You are not required to use our seamstresses, but we are known for our fit and innovative bustles. They are available for fittings for our brides and their wedding parties on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays by appointment only! WE DO NOT TAKE FITTINGS ON SATURDAYS. Our seamstress needs 10 weeks to complete your alterations. We do not alter gowns not purchased from J. J. Kelly Bridal.
Will the dress be custom fit to my body?
No, you will select a size based on your body measurements according to the designer's standard size chart provided when you are ready to place your order on the gown you have selected. If you fall in between sizes, always order the larger size. It is easier to take a gown in rather than let it out. Alterations may be necessary after you receive your gown, and are an additional charge as mentioned above.
What is the next step after my gown arrives?
It is important after you are notified that you make an appointment within 7 days after the arrival of your gown. These appointments are made Monday thru Friday ONLY-- we DO NOT allow gown try-ons on Saturdays. If you are planning to use our seamstress, she needs 10 weeks from start to finish, so if your wedding date is close please make your try-on appointment at the same time as your fitting appointment with our seamstress.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the personal nature of our merchandise, all bridal gowns, bridesmaids gowns, mother of the bride and groom gowns, flower girl dresses, headpieces, veils, shoes and accessories are non-returnable. All sales are final.
Do you offer a military discount?
J. J. Kelly Bridal appreciates the service our military, veteran, and National Guard brides do for our country to keep it safe. Show your military I.D. to receive a 10% discount on any regular priced gown.
